70 Pounds Of Cocaine Bricks Wash Ashore In Palm Beach, Police Say

On Saturday, seventy pounds of cocaine bricks washed ashore in the 800 block of South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach, according to police.

Police spokesperson Michael Ogrodnick said the situation remains "under investigation" and the police haven't yet determined the package's point of origin. However, he did say the street value of the cocaine is approximately $850,000.

The Palm Beach Police Department is working alongside federal partners on this investigation.

Ogrodnick said a resident saw one of the packages on the beach around 11 AM on Saturday before calling the police. It wasn't long after police arrived on the scene that multiple packages started washing up on shore.

"The package was observed by a resident who immediately called the police department, and we responded immediately to safely collect this suspected cocaine and prevent it from being distributed into our community," he said.

After proper lab testing, the cocaine will be destroyed in accordance with federal guidelines.
