If you use your debit card to pay for just about everything make sure you avoid a few key places according to ABC News:
1. Outdoor ATMs. Don't use outdoor ATMs. Thieves can get your info on the card with a fake ATM reader. Plus, there could be small cameras planted to get your pin number.
2. Gas pumps. This is a similar issue but gas stations don't usually monitor the pumps as they are being used so many check for these devices the next morning.
3. Online stores. Always use credit online, because credit cards have much better fraud protection. Thieves can get information from your own computer using malware, hack into your wireless network, or steal info right from the merchant.
4. Restaurants. Every time you use plastic to pay at a restaurant you are giving your card to a total stranger. Think about it, they're gone for a few minutes and you just can't tell who are the dishonest ones.
